June 23 vs Yomiuri at Tokyo Dome – Hatakeyama recorded a pinch-hit double to left in the seventh inning and Shinichiro Inoue (1951), Hiroshi Aoyama (1955), and Katsuo Osugi (1976) as the only players in Swallows history to accomplish the feat. The NPB record of seven was set by Kiyoshi Hatsushiba in 2003.

Kazuhiro Hatakeyama hurt his left leg while running to first on a grounder to second in the second inning of tonight’s game against the Yomiuri Giants. He was replaced on defense in the bottom half of the inning.
After the game, Hatakeyama had his left calf taped up. He told reporters he had been feeling tightness in the area since opening day, but felt good the last few days, until he felt a pop tonight. He thinks he suffered a strain. He will probably be taken off the active roster.

Hatakeyama was diagnosed with a strain in his left gastrocnemius (calf area). It is uncertain how much time he will miss.

Kazuhiro Hatakeyama (left hamate and right Achilles tendon) took live batting practice outdoors for the first time in about four months at the Ni-gun facilities in Toda on October 28. He told reporters his condition really started to improve in October and that he was able to hit the ball over the fence. Regarding next season, he said he knew the Yakult Swallows were not necessarily saving a spot for him and that he had to show he was ready to play when the exhibition game season began.
