After the game, Hatakeyama had his left calf taped up. He told reporters he had been feeling tightness in the area since opening day, but felt good the last few days, until he felt a pop tonight. He thinks he suffered a strain. He will probably be taken off the active roster.

[10/29/2016] Kazuhiro Hatakeyama injury update

Kazuhiro Hatakeyama (left hamate and right Achilles tendon) took live batting practice outdoors for the first time in about four months at the Ni-gun facilities in Toda on October 28. He told reporters his condition really started to improve in October and that he was able to hit the ball over the fence. Regarding next season, he said he knew the Yakult Swallows were not necessarily saving a spot for him and that he had to show he was ready to play when the exhibition game season began.

Hatakeyama is also hoping to drop about five kilograms before the start of spring camp.
