[11/22/2017] Seiji Kobayashi has surgery

The Yomiuri Giants announced on November 22 that Seiji Kobayashi had surgery to remove a skin abnormality from his buttocks at a hospital in Kanagawa on November 21. He will not be attending Fan Festa on November 23.

Seiji Kobayashi (left shoulder) played in another Ni-gun game on July 6. He was the starting catcher and batted eighth against Lotte. He went 0-for-3. He was removed on defense in the eighth inning.

[7/5/2016] Seiji Kobayashi goes 0-for-2 in rehab game

Seiji Kobayashi (left shoulder) could return to the active roster in time for the Yokohama series that begins on July 8 at Tokyo Dome. He played in his first rehab game at Ni-gun today. He got the start at catcher and batted second against Lotte at QVC Marine. He went 0-for-2: F7, L4. He also threw out Takashi Ogino trying to steal second in the fourth inning. He was replaced on defense in the fifth inning.

[7/3/2016] Seiji Kobayashi close to playing in first rehab game

Seiji Kobayashi (left shoulder) is expected to play in his first rehab game at Ni-gun during an upcoming three-game series against Lotte that begins on July 6. He has already resumed fielding and hitting practice and feels no pain.

[6/22/2016] Seiji Kobayashi diagnosed with fracture in left shoulder blade

Seiji Kobayashi hurt his left shoulder when he hit by a pitch during a game against the Rakuten Eagles at Tokyo Dome on June 16. He made the starting line-up against the Chiba Lotte Marines the following day, but then missed the next two games.

Kobayashi was examined at a hospital in Tokyo and diagnosed with a fracture in the infraspinatus fossa of the left scapula (left shoulder blade). He was taken off the active roster today.
