[8/5/2017] Takumi Akiyama leaves start with hamstring tightness

Takumi Akiyama felt tightness in his right hamstring while pitching in the third inning of today’s game against the Yakult Swallows at Kyocera Dome. He was removed from the game and later examined at a hospital in Kobe. The Hanshin Tigers are expected to get results of his test some time on or after August 6.

Akiyama struck out the first two batters he faced in the third inning. He then walked Tomotaka Sakaguchi on nine pitches and called for a time out. Pitching coach Isao Koda and a team trainer visited him on the mound and pulled him from the game.
