[11/24/2017] Ryutaro Umeno to become next Tigers chief player rep

Ryutaro Umeno is said to be next in line to take over as Hanshin Tigers chief player representative. Umeno is currently the vice player rep. An official announcement is expected during the final team player meeting of the year later this month.

Umeno will be taking over for Keisuke Kano.

Masahiro Nakatani: Did You Know



September 18, 2017 vs Hiroshima at Koshien Stadium – Nakatani recorded his twentieth home run of the season in the fourth inning off Yusuke Nomura. He is the first Hanshin right-handed hitting lifer to reach twenty home runs since Osamu Hamanaka hit twenty in 2006 (Hamanaka was a lifer at the time he recorded twenty home runs).

[6/26/2016] Shunsuke Fujikawa taken off field on stretcher after colliding into Masahiro Nakatani

Shunsuke Fujikawa had to be taken off the field on a stretcher after he crashed into Masahiro Nakatani on the final play of a game against the Hiroshima Carp at Mazda Stadium earlier today.

The Carp tied the score at three in the bottom of the ninth with a bases loaded, two-out RBI single to left by Tsubasa Aizawa. Rafael Dolis relieved Yuta Iwasada and got Ryuhei Matsuyama to hit a fly ball to center. Shunsuke and Nakatani ran to make the catch and crashed into each other. The ball dropped and the Carp won the game 4-3.

Nakatani was able to move around after the collision, but Shunsuke had to be taken off the field on a stretcher.

Shunsuke banged his right leg and right shoulder on the ground. He may have also hurt his right hand. He will be examined by the team doctor today.
