2018

June 22 vs Hanshin at Koshien Stadium – Osera picked up his tenth victory of the year and became the first NPB pitcher to win his tenth game in June since Masahiro Tanaka in 2013, the first Carp pitcher since Colby Lewis in 2008, and the first Japanese Carp pitcher since Manabu Kitabeppu in 1982.

Osera also joined Ryohei Hasegawa (1953), Kitabeppu (1982), Yasuyuki Yamauchi (1995), Lewis (2008), Kenta Maeda (2012) and Yusuke Nomura (2016) as the only pitchers in Carp history to win ten games in a season before anyone else in either league.

[2/12/2017] Daichi Osera has some discomfort in right side

Daichi Osera felt some discomfort in his right side during a bullpen session on February 11. His workouts today were adjusted accordingly. He will not be doing any throwing for the time being.

Koichi Ogata told reporters today that he will not be taking Osera to Okinawa camp that begins on February 22. His condition is improving, but Ogata does not want to push him too hard. He still wants Osera to be ready for the start of the season.

Osera joined the Ichi-gun team for general workouts at Mazda Stadium on March 13. He pitched three scoreless innings in a Kyoiku League game against Hanshin on March 12.

[7/14/2016] Daichi Osera could join Ichi-gun team after All-Star break

Daichi Osera started a Ni-gun game against Hanshin on July 10. He gave up two runs (earned) on nine hits over 7.1 innings of work. He faced thirty batters, threw 121 pitches, struck out three, walked none, and topped out at 147km/h.

Osera is expected to join the Ichi-gun team after the All-Star break.

[6/23/2016] Daichi Osera gives up three runs over six innings

Daichi Osera (right elbow) started a Ni-gun game against Orix on June 22 and gave up three runs on seven hits over six innings of work. He threw 119 pitches and topped out at 144km/h.

The Hiroshima Carp are not in a rush for him to return. They think he could be ready in August, but would be okay if he returned in September.

[6/15/2016] Daichi Osera pitches three innings in rehab game

Daichi Osera (right elbow) pitched three innings during a Ni-gun game on June 15 against the Hanshin Tigers. He gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits and topped out at 145km/h. He was scheduled to throw about sixty pitches over three innings, but went up to seventy-six (he was already at fifty-seven through two innings).

This was Osera’s second Ni-gun outing of the year. He also pitched in an intra-squad game on June 8. He is slated to make his next appearance on six days of rest.

[5/25/2016] Daichi Osera pitches in batting practice scrimmage

Daichi Osera (right elbow) pitched in an indoor batting practice scrimmage at Mazda Stadium on May 25. He faced four hitters, including Hector Luna and Jason Pridie, fourteen times. He threw fastballs and off-speed pitches and allowed four could-be hits and struck out two.

If Osera does not suffer any setbacks, he could make the active roster before the end of June.

[5/18/2016] Daichi Osera scratched from scrimmage due to lower back discomfort

Daichi Osera was scratched from a batting practice scrimmage today because of discomfort in his lower back.

Osera has been working his way back from right elbow pain. He resumed bullpen sessions on May 1 and tossed batting practice on May 14. He was scheduled to pitch in a batting practice scrimmage today, but was scratched from the outing because of discomfort in his lower back. He was also scratched from a Ni-gun Inter-league game on May 21. He is lower back is considered day-to-day.

[5/14/2016] Daichi Osera tosses batting practice

Daichi Osera (right elbow) tossed indoor batting practice at Mazda Stadium today. It was the first time he threw batting practice since his injury. He threw fifty-six pitches to Ko Shimozuru and Takayoshi Noma. He threw mostly fastballs, but also mixed in some cutters, sliders, and change-up.

Osera is scheduled to pitch in a batting practice scrimmage some time next week.
