Tomohiro Abe was taken off the active roster today. Abe was hit by a pitch on his right calf during a game against the Hanshin Tigers at Koshien Stadium on September 18. He had a hematoma removed from the calf (between muscle and fascia) at a hospital in Hiroshima on September 25. He will remain hospitalized until he is ready to be released.

Abe will head to Miyazaki for the Phoenix League on October 18. He is currently at around seventy percent. He could be okay for the Nippon Series.

Abe returned to the active roster today. He made it into tonight’s game against the Yokohama Bay Stars at Mazda Stadium as a pinch-hitter in the 5th inning and fouled out to third.0 Comments
Ryuhei Matsuyama and Tomohiro Abe left Satuday’s game against the Yokohama Bay Stars at Mazda Stadium with injuries. Matsuyama felt discomfort in his right shoulder during his at bat in the first inning and was replaced on defense in the second. Abe felt discomfort in his lower back during his at bat in the second inning and was replaced on defense in the third inning.
Both players were sent to a hospital in Yokohama for tests during the game. The Hiroshima Carp could get their tests results on Sunday (August 6).

Matsuyama was diagnosed with inflammation in his right shoulder and Abe with lower back pain. Both injuries are not considered serious.

April 1, 2017 vs Hanshin at Mazda Stadium – Abe recorded the first walk-off hit of his career. With runners on second and third and one out in the bottom of the tenth, he hit a walk-off infield single toward second off Rafael Dolis.
September 5, 2017 vs Hanshin at Mazda Stadium – Abe blasted the first walk-off home run of his career. The home run came off Rafael Dolis in the bottom of the ninth with a runner on second and one out.
