The Chubu Sports Press Club’s professional baseball subcommittee selected Shinji Tajima as their MVP this year. Tajima set an NPB record by starting the season with a streak of thirty-one consecutive scoreless appearances. He finished the year 3-4 with seventeen saves and a 2.44 ERA (1.27 WHIP) in fifty-nine games.

Shinji Tajima extended his scoreless games streak to thirty-one on June 5 and tied the franchise record set by Akifumi Takahashi in 2005. Tajima entered the game in the ninth inning against the Rakuten Eagles at Nagoya Dome and retired the side in order on eleven pitches.
The NPB record of thirty-eight consecutive scoreless appearances was set by Kyuji Fujikawa in 2006.
