[1/24/2017] Ricardo Nanita has TJ surgery, wants to return to NPB in 2018

The media learned today that former Chunichi Dragon Ricardo Nanita had Tommy John surgery on January 12. He is hoping to recover in time to play winter ball later this year with his eye on a possible return to the NPB in 2018.

Nanita signed with Chunichi in December 2014. Injuries limited him to fifty-two games in 2015 (lower back, left elbow). He played in ninety-two games in 2016 and recorded a twenty game hitting streak between April and May. He was let go after the season.

[9/10/2016] Injury Updates: Drew Naylor, Ricardo Nanita

The media learned on September 10 that Drew Naylor is again having problems with his right shoulder. The pain returned after his last appearance on September 3 against Ni-gun Orix. He is not expected to pitch in any more games this season.

Naylor would like to return to Chunichi next year. He is also looking forward to the possibility of playing for Australia during the 2017 World Baseball Classic.

Ricardo Nanita (left elbow) may not be able to make it back to the active roster before the end of the season. He is still unable to swing the bat or throw the ball at full strength. He was hoping to play in his first rehab game on September 9, but will now most likely have to wait until the last series of the Ni-gun season on September 20. Assuming no problems, he might be able to make it back to the active roster in time for the last two home games of the season on September 24 and 25 (against Hanshin).

Nanita would also like to return to Chunichi next year.

[8/16/2016] Chunichi Dragons: Dayan Viciedo, Ricardo Nanita, Anderson Hernandez

Dayan Viciedo visited a hospital in Nagoya on August 16 to get his left ankle examined and treated. He was diagnosed with an ankle sprain. Viciedo later showed up at Nagoya Stadium with his ankle wrapped. He still feels pain due to inflammation, but the injury itself is not considered serious.

Viciedo could not get his ankle examined sooner because the team doctor was on vacation.
