[3/25/2019] Akira Nakamura diagnosed with dysautonomia

Akira Nakamura had been making his way back from a right oblique contusion when he was also diagnosed with dysautonomia. He is getting rest at home and treatment at a hospital. It is uncertain how much time he will need for a full recovery.

[3/14/2019] Akira Nakamura out with contusion on right side

Akira Nakamura was taking a break from workouts and exhibition games after he developed discomfort in his right side on March 9. The Softbank Hawks announced that Nakamura was examined at a hospital in Fukuoka on March 12 and diagnosed with a contusion in his right oblique muscle.

[12/23/2018] Akira Nakamura signs four-year contract

Twenty-nine-year-old Akira Nakamura spoke to reporters after contract negotiations with the Softbank Hawks on December 22. Nakamura agreed to an estimated 240 million yen next year (up 80 million over this season). He also signed a four-year contract with a variable salary (his salary can not go below 240 million yen but can increase, without limit, based on performance), ahead of the domestic free agent option he is slated to earn some time next season.

[4/18/2018] Akira Nakamura hurts leg while running bases

Akira Nakamura hurt his right hamstring while running the bases in the sixth inning of a game against the Rakuten Eagles on April 17. He was examined at a hospital in Fukuoka today and diagnosed with a mild injury to his biceps femoris that will require two to three weeks for a full recovery.

[3/25/2018] Akira Nakamura to sit out today’s Hiroshima exhibition game

Akira Nakamura developed tightness in his buttocks during an exhibition game against Hiroshima on March 23. He was examined at a hospital in Fukuoka on March 24 and diagnosed with a mild injury to his left gluteus medius muscle. He will skip the exhibition game against Hiroshima on March 25.

Nakamura agreed to a salary of 160 million yen (up twenty million over this season) plus performance bonuses in 2018 during contract negotiations on December 25. His representative, Haruo Kitamura, helped him negotiate a contract that could be worth up to 200 million yen if he maxes out all his performance bonuses (nine categories).

[10/20/2017] Akira Nakamura’s home run hits spectator

Akira Nakamura hit a home run during tonight’s game against the Rakuten Eagles at YafuOkue Dome that hit a female spectator in the head. She was given treatment at the stadium and was then taken to a hospital because she suffered a laceration. She never lost consciousness.

The female spectator was wearing a Nakamura uniform at the time. The ball that hit her bounced into the terrace seats in front of her. The Softbank Hawks presented her with a game-used ball autographed by Nakamura.

[4/18/2016] A. Nakamura day-to-day after taking pitch off calf

Akira Nakamura took a pitch off the inner part of his left calf during his at bat in the fifth inning against Rakuten on April 17. He was replaced on defense in the seventh because he was having some difficulty running. He is considered day-to-day.
