Robert Suarez had Tommy John surgery in April last year and had been rehabbing in Puerto Rico. Suarez returned to Japan today and told reporters that he was at about ninety percent (he has already thrown off a mound and faced some hitters). He will begin practices at the Softbank Hawks’ farm facilities on May 6.

The Softbank Hawks announced today that Robert Suarez has a mild strain in his right forearm. He left an outing against Mexico early on March 13. He left the WBC Venezuela team on March 16 and visited a hospital in Kanagawa for rests on March 17. It is uncertain how much time he will miss, but it could be at least a month.

The Hawks announced today that Suarez left for the United States on April 5 for additional tests on his right arm.

The Hawks announced on April 14 that Suarez had Tommy John surgery on his right elbow at a hospital in New York. He will require about a year for a full recovery.

The media learned on July 28 that Suarez will rehab in San Juan, Puerto Rico and return to Japan in time for spring camp next year in February.

The Softbank Hawks sent Edison Barrios down to Ni-gun on April 8 and called up Robert Suarez today.
Ken Okamoto was also called up today. He will take Tadashi Settsu’s spot on the active roster.
