Yomiuri According to a report by ZakZak, there may be some concerns about Morifuku’s private life. He ran into some problems with a woman during a mini-camp for the 2013 WBC. It did not become a big deal because the Fukuoka media kept quiet about it. He, and subsequently the entire team, was also banned from a cabaret after problems developed between the two. The Giants are trying to distance themselves from scandals after a few of their players were caught gambling. The media also tends to keep a close eye on the team. Source: ZakZak 11/12/2016

[10/17/2016] Masahiko Morifuku could exercise FA option

Thirty-year-old Masahiko Morifuku is leaning towards exercising the domestic free agents option he earned earlier this year. A number of teams could show interest. He will not require compensation since he will be a class C free agent.

[UPDATE 11/1 @ 4:56pm]

There is a good chance Morifuku will exercise his free agent option. He does like playing for Softbank, but is also interested in testing the market. He could be an interesting option for a team looking for a left-handed reliever, especially since he will most likely be a class C free agent (no compensation).

The Giants could be among teams that show interest.
