[11/5/2018] Jumpei Takahashi, Yusuke Masago, Ukyo Shuto to play winter ball in Puerto Rico

The Softbank Hawks announced that the following players and staff will be sent to Puerto Rico to participate in the Winter Leagues.

The group is scheduled to leave Japan on November 10 and return on December 25.

[2/3/2017] Jumpei Takahashi takes ball off forehead during fielding practice

Jumpei Takahashi was hit in the forehead, just above the left, by a batted ball during fielding practice on January 2. Takahashi was attempting to field a ball when it took a bad hop and struck him in the forehead. He was diagnosed with a bruise.

Jumpei Takahashi pitched in a Ni-gun game against Chunichi at YafuOku Dome earlier today. He entered he game in the fourth inning and tossed three shutout innings. He did not allow a hit, walked one, struck out three, and topped out at 146km/h. He was credited with his first career Ni-gun victory.

[5/28/2016] Jumpei Takahashi to make Ni-gun debut today

Jumpei Takahashi is scheduled to make his Ni-gun debut today against Hiroshima at Chikugo and pitch two innings in relief. He was originally slated to make his debut on May 29, but with rain in the forecast, the Softbank Hawks decided to push his schedule up a day.

[5/11/2016] Jumpei Takahashi tosses batting practice

Jumpei Takahashi tossed batting practice to Kenji Akashi at the Chikugo indoor facilities on May 11. He threw forty pitches and allowed six could be hits. It was the first time he faced a hitter since September 5, 2015. He hit 145km/h on the bullpen radar gun.

Takahashi is slated to pitch in a batting practice scrimmage on May 18. If things go well after that, he could pitch in a Ni-gun game some time after May 26.

Jumpei Takahashi (left shin) tossed a bullpen session at the Chikugo facilities on May 4. He threw sixty fastballs to a squatting catcher. It was his first session to a squatting catcher since he turned pro.
