According to Sponichi, Daiki Asama might need surgery on his lower back depending on results from tests he is slated to get today. Nikkan Sports is reporting Asama is already scheduled to go under the knife at a hospital in Tokushima and will most likely require about three months for a full recovery.

The Fighters announced today that Asama will have endoscopic surgery (PED technique) to treat a lumbar disc herniation on November 1.

Asama had surgery at a hospital in Tokushima on November 1. There were no complications. He will remain in the hospital for about ten days. His workouts will be limited for about two months.

Daiki Asama ended practices early on February 7 (Arizona time) because of lower back pain. He is considered day-to-day.

Asama worked out at the Kamagaya facilities on April 4. He is scheduled to participate in a batting practice scrimmage on April 9. Assuming no issues, he could play in his first rehab game at Ni-gun on April 11.
