The Nippon Ham Fighters announced today that Yuya Taniguchi will have surgery on his right knee (anterior cruciate ligament) later this month. Taniguchi was diagnosed with an ACL injury on March 3.
Taniguchi will be hospitalized for about three weeks. He will most likely require around seven months for a full recovery.

Taniguchi had reconstructive surgery on his right knee at a hospital in Sapporo earlier today. He will remain in the hospital for about three weeks. He might require about seven months for a full recovery.

Taniguchi was discharged from a Sapporo hospital on April 12. He will begin a rehab program for his right knee at the Ni-gun facilities in Kamagaya. He will most likely require about seven months for a full recovery.

Taniguchi started outdoor workouts in June and resumed hitting against pitching machines earlier this month. His goal right now is to play in rehab games during the Phoenix League.

Taniguchi started taking live indoor batting practice on September 7. He took about fifty swings. He could begin taking outdoor batting practice soon (perhaps September 9). He started running dashes about two weeks ago. He told reporters he was at about seventy percent. He might be able to catch the tail-end of the Phoenix League.0 Comments
Yuya Taniguchi was diagnosed with contact dermatitis near his right knee during a hospital visit. He will rest the knee for a couple of days before he resumes practices.
