Yuji Nishino’s return to the active roster will most likely be delayed. He played some catch and did some running during practices at Lotte Urawa on August 30. He told reporters he still had pain in his elbow and that progress was slow. He has tossed bullpen sessions with a standing catcher, but is still not ready to throw at full-strength.

Yuji Nishino was examined at a hospital in Funabashi, Chiba on August 1. Tests did not reveal any bone or ligament abnormalities. The pain in his right elbow was chalked up to inflammation and fatigue.

Yuji Nishino hurt his left elbow when he fell while trying to fielding a bunt during a game against Softbank at QVC Marine on May 29. The Chiba Lotte Marines announced today that he was examined at a hospital in Tokyo on May 30 and diagnosed with a left elbow bone contusion. He will need about a week for a full recovery.
