Akihisa Makida thought about checking to see if other teams might be interested in his services, but he decided to retire because he wanted to be closer to his kids. Makida has two girls, seven and nine.
Lotte senryokugai Ryoji Katsuki decided to continue his playing career by returning to the Sendo Ichiba Golden Larks (Industrial League). He will be a player/coach. He had offers from Independent League teams, but he decided to return to the Golden Larks because of the team’s connection to Kumamoto.
Lotte senryokugai Yoshihiro Ito decided to retire after he failed to pass his tryout with the Yomiuri Giants in November. He is interested in becoming a physical education teacher.
Former Yomiuri Giant Hiroki Sanada has decided to retire. He spent the last couple of years playing in the Independent Leagues (Fukushima in 2015 and Fukui in 2016). He is slated to return to the Giants as a batting practice pitcher.0 Comments
The Yomiuri Giants invited Lotte senryokugai Yoshihiro Ito to fall camp for a tryout between November 16 and 18. Ito tossed a bullpen session (forty-one pitches) in front of Yoshinobu Takahashi on November 16.

Ito did not pass his tryout with the Giants. He is planning to retire and is interested in working with children. He could pursue a career as a teacher.0 Comments
Yoshihiro Ito had surgery on his right elbow last November. He tossed a bullpen session at Lotte Urawa on April 20. He threw thirty pitches to a squatting catcher. It was his first session with a squatting catcher since his surgery. He was happy with about five pitches. He could be ready to pitch in a rehab scrimmage/game next month.
