Ikuhiro Kiyota hurt his left shoulder when he attempted a sliding catch during the fifth inning of an exhibition game against the Yomiuri Giants on February 26. He was examined at a hospital in Naha and diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder. He will report to the Ni-gun team on February 28.

Kiyota is currently expected to be ready for the start of the regular season. He was initially told he might need to use a sling for about a month, but he went without the sling and was able to resume batting practice within two weeks.

Ikuhiro Kiyota took a pitch off the left side of his game during tonight’s game against the Rakuten Eagles at QVC Marine.
Kiyota was visibly upset after the incident and had to be held back by teammates.
Kiyota was most likely upset and frustrated because this was his second pitch to the head this month and he only recently made it back to the active roster on September 15. He was able to walk off the field on his own and was taken to a hospital in Chiba for tests where he was diagnosed with a bruise on the left side of his head.

Lotte decided to leave Kiyota on the active roster for the time being. He never lost consciousness and was diagnosed with a bruise. He is considered day-to-day.

Ikuhiro Kiyota was hit in the head by a pitch during a game against the Seibu Lions at Seibu Prince Dome on September 8. He was taken off the active roster on the following day because there were concerns he suffered a concussion. Since the Chiba Lotte Marines filed a concussion exception, Kiyota will be allowed to return to the active roster before the usual ten-day requirement, assuming he passes the NPB’s guidelines for concussions. He is currently scheduled to return to the active roster on September 17.

Kiyota was added to the active roster today. He made the starting line-up in right and batted seventh. He was scheduled to return to the active roster on September 19, but the coaches sped things up because he looked fine and the doctor gave him the green light.

Seibu’s Chun-Lin Kuo was ejected from tonight’s game against the Chiba Lotte Marines after he hit Ikuhiro Kiyota on the left side of the head with a 144km/h fastball in the third inning with a runner on first and one out.
Kiyota was taken off the field on a stretcher.

Ikuhiro Kiyota developed a stye in his right eye and was left out of the starting line-up today (June 18) against the Yomiuri Giants at Tokyo Dome.
Kiyota was able to take two rounds of batting practice despite a swollen right eye.
