[2/9/2017] Kazuhisa Makita cancels bullpen session because of elbow tightness

Kazuhisa Makita canceled a bullpen session on February 8 because of tightness in his right elbow. He canceled a bullpen session on February 6 for the same reason. He did not seem concerned about the tightness and said it was something that came with getting used to the WBC baseball.

[7/12/2016] Kazuhisa Makita might be able to pitch an inning during the All-Star series

Kazuhisa Makita (right knee) made the All-Star roster through fan votes. He pitched in a Ni-gun rehab game against Nippon Ham on July 10 and tossed a shutout inning in relief. He might be able to pitch about an inning during the All-Star series.

[7/10/2016] Kazuhisa Makita tosses shutout inning in rehab outing

Kazuhisa Makita (right knee) pitched in a Ni-gun rehab game against Nippon Ham at Kamagaya earlier today. He entered the game in the seventh and gave up one hit in a shutout inning of relief. All three outs came on infield grounders.

[6/22/2016] Kazuhisa Makita’s right knee improving

Kazuhisa Makita’s right knee is improving, though he still feels some pain. Makita has some inflammation in the medial portion of the knee. He had the knee drained at a hospital in Tokyo on June 17 and is hoping to resume practices soon.

[6/16/2016] Kazuhisa Makita out with right knee pain

Kazuhisa Makita was taken off the active roster today with pain in his right knee. Head Coach Tetsuya Shiozaki told reporters Makita was okay to pitch (his shoulder and elbow are fine), but was unable to run.
