The Orix Buffaloes announced that they added Kodai Sano to their seventy-man roster on July 31. His uniform number will change from 121 to 93. He will be registered as an outfielder. His contract will be worth an estimated 4.2 million yen.
Sano was drafted as a pitched by the Buffaloes in 2015. He was unable to make his mark as a pitcher and got another chance as an infielder when he signed an Ikusei contract after the 2017 season.
