[5/22/2018] Louis Okoye leaves game with tightness in right leg

Louis Okoye was replaced by a pinch-runner after he hit a double to left-center in the sixth inning of a game against the Orix Buffaloes at Rakuten Seimei Park on May 22. He was removed from the game as a precaution because of tightness in his right thigh.

Okoye was examined at a hospital in Sendai today and diagnosed with an injury to his right biceps femoris that will require three to four weeks for a full recovery.

Okoye was taken off the active roster today.

[10/1/2017] Louis  Okoye taken off active roster

Louis  Okoye missed games against Nippon Ham on September 29 and Lotte on September 30 because he was not feeling well. He was taken off the active roster today because he is still not fully recovered and the Rakuten Eagles can no longer afford to carry a position player that is unable to play.

[6/14/2017] Louis Okoye to join Ni-gun team on June 15

Louis Okoye is set to join the Ni-gun team on June 15. Okoye fractured his right ring finger during spring camp this year. He started playing in Ikusei rehab games in April, but then sprained his ankle. He is just now finally getting back into form.

[2/2/2017] Louis Okoye to have surgery on right finger

Louis Okoye participated in morning warm-ups and dashes on January 2, but did not stay for the rest of practices. He instead traveled to Tokyo for tests on his right ring finger. Okoye hurt the finger during practices on January 1. He is expected to return to Okinawa on January 3. The Rakuten Eagles will most likely reassign him to Ni-gun spring camp.

The Eagles announced today that Okoye was diagnosed with a ligament injury near the base of his right ring finger. He will have surgery to treat the ligament on January 9 and will most likely require two to three months for a full recovery.

Okoye may have suffered the injury to his right ring finger because he was overcompensating for another injury (he hurt his right middle finger last year).

[1/31/2017] Louis Okoye misses practices

Louis Okoye was not feeling well and missed workouts on January 31. He was not feeling well the night before and was taken to a hospital for tests. He had a fever but his flu test was negative. He was diagnosed with a possible case of gastroenteritis and rested at the hotel.

Louis Okoye (right elbow) is currently working out in Sendai. He got about a week off from games and is now slated to play in his first Ni-gun rehab game on May 6 against Lotte at QVC Marine.

Louis Okoye complained of pain in his right elbow on April 22. He was examined at a hospital in Sendai on April 25 and diagnosed with mild inflammation. The Eagles will monitor Okoye’s progress and set a schedule based on the level of pain.

[4/25/2016] Louis Okoye to have right elbow tested

Louis Okoye made an appearance as a pinch-hitter during a Ni-gun game against Nippon Ham on April 24. The media learned on the same day that the rookie was out with right elbow pain the previous day. He is expected to get the elbow examined.
