Thirty-three-year-old Koji Aoyama has decided not to exercise his international free agent option and will stay with the Rakuten Eagles. The Eagles released the following statement from Aoyama:
The biggest reason [for not using my option] is because I love the Rakuten Eagles.
I feel strongly about the team because of the cheering fans and the helpful team staff.
[The Eagles] allowed me to pitch this year. I hope I can do more next season to help.
I want to toss Nashida-kantoku into the air.

Thirty-four-year-old Kazuya Fujita and thirty-three-year-old Koji Aoyama could exercise their free agent options depending on how negotiations go with the Rakuten Eagles.
Fujita told reporters he appreciated everything the Eagles did for him after they obtained him in a trade, but was also curious about testing the free agent market because it will most likely be his last chance.
Aoyama is thinking about all his options and will decide what to do after he has had a chance to talk to the Eagles.
