According to a number of media reports, the Yomiuri Giants are close to signing twenty-six-year-old pitcher Manuel Soliman to what may be an Ikusei contract. They are also looking into twenty-one-year-old pitcher Samuel Adames. The Giants see both as players that might be able to help the team in the future. They currently have eight foreign players on the seventy-man roster with one under an Ikusei contract.
Yomiuri sent a scout to the Dominican Republic during the off-season to check on talent. They held a tryout in March to narrow down their options.
