The Yomiuri Giants announced today that they filed paperwork to place Jose Adolis Garcia on waivers. The Giants decided to part ways with Garcia because he did not fit in to their plans for 2017.
[UPDATE 8/19 @ 9:51pm]
According to Tokyo Sports, part of the reason why the Giants parted ways with Garcia also had to do with his inability to adjust to Japanese food, or the organization’s inability to provide him with food he might be more accustomed to eating. He apparently told some people around him that he missed beans and grilled chicken. It got so bad that he grew dissatisfied with his contract with the Giants.

[UPDATE 9/20 @ 5:41pm]
Relations between Garcia and the Giants were strained from the start. Some are wondering if he perhaps agreed to come to Japan just for a chance to defect. It seemed like he never even tried to adjust to playing in Japan — he did not take practices seriously, he did not want to live in the player dormitory, he almost struck an interpreter that tried to warn him about his attitude.
