Spencer Patton was ejected from a game against the Yomiuri Giants on September 14. Kazuma Okamoto swung at a pitch that hit him near the right thumb. The home plate umpire gave Okamoto first on a hit-by-pitch, but Patton felt it was a swing. Alex Ramirez appealed the call, but the call was upheld. Patton was not pleased and strongly argued the call. He threw his glove to the ground after he was tossed from the game.
The NPB announced today that they handed Patton a 100,000 yen fine and gave him a stern warning.
