[9/24/2018] Kyuji Fujikawa taken off active roster with elbow pain

Kyuji Fujikawa was taken off the active roster today with pain in his right elbow. The Hanshin Tigers are taking a wait-and-see approach before deciding what step to take next.

[9/21/2018] Fumihito Haraguchi taken off active roster with finger fracture

Fumihito Haraguchi hurt his left hand when he fouled off a pitch during a game against the Yakult Swallows at Koshien Stadium on September 14. He had been playing through the pain, but the Hanshin Tigers decided to take him off the active roster on September 21 with a fracture in his fifth metacarpal.

[9/19/2018] Hanshin Tigers uncertain when Messenger will be ready to return

Randy Messenger was taken off the active roster on September 12 after he gave up four runs one five hits over 3.1 innings of work. Messenger asked to be taken off the active roster for some time to make adjustments at Ni-gun and to deal with some pain (possibly from fatigue) in his back and right shoulder. The Hanshin Tigers are still uncertain when Messenger will be able to return to the active roster.

[9/15/2018] Fumiya Hojo out with dislocated shoulder

Fumiya Hojo made a diving grab during the fourth inning of a game against the Yakult Swallows at Koshien Stadium and banged his left shoulder against the ground. He was in pain and had to be taken off the field on a stretcher.

Hojo was examined at a hospital in Osaka and diagnosed with a dislocated left shoulder. He was removed from the active roster on the same day.

[8/21/2018] Takashi Toritani re-earns FA option, five-year contract ends next year

Thirty-seven-year-old Takashi Toritani re-earned his free agent option today. He exercised his international free agent option after the 2014 season with an interest in playing in the Majors. He ended up staying with the Hanshin Tigers and signed a five-year contract. He will be in the final year of that contract next year.

[8/20/2018] Yuya Yokoyama has shoulder cleaned out

The Hanshin Tigers announced on August 19 that Yuya Yokoyama had surgery to clean out his left shoulder at a hospital in Osaka.

[8/14/2018] Naomasa Yokawa taken off active roster on August 12

Naomasa Yokawa went 0-for-3 against Yokohama on August 10 and was replaced on defense at third in the sixth inning. He did not play on August 11 and was taken off the active roster on August 12 with pain in his right elbow.

[7/30/2018] Hanshin Tigers add Hiroaki Saiuchi to seventy-man roster

The Hanshin Tigers added Hiroaki Saiuchi to their seventy-man roster. They announced the move on July 30. Saiuchi’s uniform number will change from 126 to 97.

In seventeen Ni-gun games this year, Saiuchi recorded a 4.41 ERA (16.1 IP, 11 SO, 4 BB, 17 H, 8 ER).
