Hideki Kuriyama told reporters today that he is planning to use Hirotoshi Masui as a starter after the All-Star break. Masui has struggled in the bullpen and Kuriyama believes a change in role could help. The manager is also hoping to bolster the rotation with another arm.
Masui has not started a game since his rookie season in 2010. He was taken off the active roster on June 20 for an adjustment. He is scheduled to start a Ni-gun game on July 11 against Yakult.
