The Hiroshima Carp announced on February 19 that ten of their eleven batting practice pitchers and bullpen catchers were resting at the team hotel because they were not feeling well. They all started coming down with various symptoms (like fever and vomiting) between February 17 and 18.
During batting practices on February 19, Takuro Ishii (hitting coach) worked as a batting practice pitcher and threw about 600 pitches(!). Koichi Ogata (manager) and members of the scouting staff spent time feeding baseballs during soft-toss drills.

Miyazaki Prefecture announced that the norovirus was detected in seven people, including a food handler from a hotel in Nichinan. The other six people were from Hiroshima’s staff. The Nichinan Health Center has concluded that the cause was food poisoning from food at the hotel. Everyone that was sick is recovering.
