[3/31/2017] Munenori Kawasaki back in Japan, could sign with Softbank

Munenori Kawasaki arrived at Fukuoka Airport before 9:00pm today. He told reporters he was going back to his parent’s house in Kagoshima. Before hopping into a cab, he added that he did not return to Japan to quit baseball and that he was going to begin looking for a job tomorrow (jokingly).

The Softbank Hawks have reportedly offered Kawasaki a multi-year contract. A team official said they expected some sort of a reply within the next day or two. They have kept his old uniform number 52 open for his return.

The Hawks announced on March 31 that they will hold a press conference on April 1. The two sides have apparently agreed to basic terms.
