Notes

  • Ramirez signed a contract extension on July 7 that will run through the end of September. Source: YDB
  • Ramirez played in his last Shikoku Island League regular season game on May 28. Kochi is still exploring the possibility of signing an extension. As of now, there does not appear to be any interest in Ramirez from the NPB. Source: Tokyo Sports 5/28/2017
  • Ramirez worked out at the Yomiuri Giants’ Ni-gun facilities on April 30. He was in the area to get treatment for his injury. He wanted a place to practice and reached out to the Giants. Ramirez was added to the active roster on April 22, but has not played in any games since April 12. The Giants are not interested in Ramirez. Source: Sanspo 5/1/2017
  • Kochi announced on April 19 that they were planning to add Ramirez to the active roster on April 22. If they can, he will be eligible to play in the Ehime game on the same day. Source: Kochi 4/19/2017
  • Ramirez was taken off the active roster on April 15 with a mild strain in his left hamstring. He suffered the injury while running the bases on April 12. He will most likely require a week to ten days. Source: Tokyo Sports 4/15/2017, Kochi 4/15/2017
  • Ramirez already has a difficult road ahead of him if he wants to play in the NPB. Teams may not want to risk the backlash of signing a player with two PED suspensions. Kochi was trying to help him by setting up promotions that might make it easier for a team to take the risk, but after he missed the game on April 2, they may be reluctant to provide any more assistance. He has also missed practices and meetings with team sponsors. The game on April 2 may have been the last nail in the coffin (at least with regards to Kochi trying to help Manny find a way into the NPB). Source: Tokyo Sports 4/4/2017
  • Ramirez was scheduled to meet with NHK for an interview on April 2, but missed it because he was not feeling well. Source: Tokyo Sports 4/2/2017
  • A burger restaurant in Kochi sold Ramirez Burgers for 1,000 yen (limited to 200). Source: Tokyo Sports 4/1/2017 … 5019 Premium Factory is the name of the restaurant. The Manny Ramirez Burder contains avocado, cheese, bacon, egg, and tomatoes. The restaurant posted a picture of Ramirez with the burger.
