Kazuhiro Hatakeyama hurt his left leg while running to first on a grounder to second in the second inning of tonight’s game against the Yomiuri Giants. He was replaced on defense in the bottom half of the inning.
After the game, Hatakeyama had his left calf taped up. He told reporters he had been feeling tightness in the area since opening day, but felt good the last few days, until he felt a pop tonight. He thinks he suffered a strain. He will probably be taken off the active roster.
[UPDATE 4/22 @ 6:49pm]
Hatakeyama was diagnosed with a strain in his left gastrocnemius (calf area). It is uncertain how much time he will miss.
