Yuhei Nakamura took a foul tip off his right knee during last night’s game against the Rakuten Eagles. The incident took place in the top of the eighth inning. He was replaced by a pinch-hitter in the bottom-half of the inning. He is considered day-to-day.

Nakamura was examined (MRI) at a hospital in Tokyo on June 14 and was diagnosed with a bone contusion on his right femur. He might also have a fracture in his right patella. He will be taken off the active roster on June 15.

Nakamura was examined at a hospital in Tokyo on June 15. No abnormalities were discovered in his right patella.

Nakamura is slated to play in his first rehab game at Ni-gun on July 1 (vs Yomiuri at Giants Stadium). Assuming no major issues, he could return to the active roster in time for the Chunichi series at Nagoya Dome that begins on July 4.

Nakamura got the start at catcher and batted sixth against Ni-gun Yomiuri today. He was his first game since June 13. He went 1-for-2: fouled out to first in the second inning, singled to center in the fifth inning and replaced by a pinch-runner. He threw out Luis Cruz trying to steal second in the second inning.
