[9/3/2017] David Buchanan out with muscle strain in hand

David Buchanan complained of pain in his right hand on September 2 and was examined at a hospital in Tokyo today. He was diagnosed with a strain in his right hypothenar muscle and taken off the active roster. It is unclear how long it will take for a full recovery, but the Yakult Swallows are hoping he will be able to return to the rotation not long after the minimum ten days.

Buchanan had similar pains earlier this year in March, but it was taking longer to heal this time around. He was concerned and informed coaches on September 2.
