The Chiba Lotte Marines are interested in maintaining their relationship with Cuba by signing another player. They are looking for a young player (pitcher or position player) that they can help develop. A team official is already in Cuba planning to hold a tryout. They might have a chance to check out twenty-year-old Yoelkis Cespedes.

[UPDATE 12/27 @ 12:33am]

Ten players (five pitchers, five position players) between sixteen and twenty-three years of age attended Lotte’s tryout in Cuba. Yoelkis Cespedes was not in the group. The Marines will now go over footage from the tryout and review data on the players before they make any final decisions. They could sign up to two players to Ikusei contracts.

mlbtraderumors.com says that the Chiba Lotte Marines just signed former MLBer Matt Dominguez to a contract. If so, it’s a great move by the Marines. Dominguez is the right age (28) and the right talent level. He could be as good as or better than Brandon Laird in NPB if things break right for Dominguez and the Marines.
