[1/9/2019] Mike Bolsinger to stay in Chiba for one more year

The Chiba Lotte Marines announced that they reached an agreement with Mike Bolsinger. According to media reports, the two sides agreed on a new one-year contract worth an estimated 1.7 million US dollars.

[12/25/2018] Yakult Swallows finalize contracts with Balentien, Buchanan, Huff, McGough, Suarez

The Yakult Swallows announced that they finalized salaries and contracts for five foreign players.

  • Wladimir Balentien – one-year contract at four million US dollars (up one million US dollars)
  • David Buchanan – second year of a two-year contract at 2.5 million US dollars (up 1.25 million US dollars)
  • David Huff – one-year contract at 650,000 US dollars (down 650,000 US dollars)
  • Scott McGough – one-year contract at 450,000 US dollars, uniform number 37
  • Albert Suarez – one-year contract at 500,000 US dollars, uniform number 70

[12/18/2018] Hanshin Tigers sign former Chunichi pitcher Onelki Garcia

The Hanshin Tigers announced that they reached an agreement with twenty-nine-year-old Onelki Garcia. According to media reports, he agreed to a one-year deal worth an estimated 1.5 million US dollars.

In twenty-seven games for the Chunichi Dragons this year, Garcia went 13-9 with a 2.99 ERA (1.29 WHIP). He walked seventy-three (3.90 BB/9) and struck out 132 (7.04 K/9) over 168.2 innings of work.

[12/18/2018] Seibu Lions sign Jen-Lei Liao

The Seibu Lions announced that they finalized a contract with twenty-five-year-old pitcher Jen-Lei Liao. He was assigned the uniform number 50.

Liao was selected in the seventh round of the 2016 draft by the Yomiuri Giants. He went 3-1 with a 3.82 ERA (1.70 WHIP) in thirty-one Ni-gun games between 2017 and 2018.

[12/13/2018] Yakult Swallows reach agreement with Albert Suarez

The media learned on December 12, through Yakult Swallows official Masayuki Okumura, that the Yakult Swallows have reached an agreement with twenty-nine-year-old Albert Suarez. The right-handed pitcher is the older brother of Softbank’s Robert Suarez.

[12/11/2018] Nippon Ham, Yakult agree on two-for-two trade

The Nippon Ham Fighters and Yakult Swallows agreed on a trade. The Fighters will send twenty-seven-year-old Hirotoshi Takanashi and twenty-one-year-old Kengo Ota to the Swallows for twenty-nine-year-old Ryo Akiyoshi and twenty-seven-year-old Ryota Yachi.

[12/8/2018] Hanshin Tigers reach agreement with Yuki Nishi

The Hanshin Tigers announced that they reached an agreement with twenty-eight-year-old Yuki Nishi. He was assigned the uniform number 16. According to media reports, he agreed to a four-year deal worth an estimated one billion yen in total.

  • Nishi met with the Tigers for a third time on December 7 at a hotel in Osaka. Hanshin Manager Akihiro Yano joined the discussions for the first time.
  • Nishi’s agent turned down the Softbank Hawks on Friday morning (12/7). Nishi contacted the Orix Buffaloes around noon to inform them of his decision.
  • The Hawks offer may have been four years and  about two billion yen in total.

[12/6/2018] Yomiuri looking to sign Reimin Ramos and Israel Mota to Ikusei contracts

According to a report by Nikkan Sports, the Yomiuri Giants are trying to sign twenty-two-year-old Reimin Ramos and twenty-two-year-old Israel Mota to Ikusei contracts. The two attended tryouts held by the Giants in the Dominican Republic last moth and passed.
