Tomohito Sakai: Did You Know


Sakai (24) filed marriage papers with a twenty-seven-year-old woman from Wakayama on September 27, 2017, the same day of his wife’s birthday. They held a ceremony in Osaka on December 2.

[12/1/2017] Marines reportedly offered Katsuya Kakunaka a multi-year deal

Thirty-year-old Katsuya Kakunaka is scheduled to earn his free agent option next season. The Chiba Lotte Marines have offered both one-year and multi-year deals during preliminary negotiations. Kakunaka is expected to make a decision during negotiations this month. Either way, the Marines would like Kakunaka to stick around long-term.

Kota Futaki: Did You Know


Futaki moved out of the Lotte team dormitory and into his own place on November 24, 2017. He told reporters at the time of the move, he owned no plates and just one cup.

[11/28/2017] Duffy, Paredes, Santos will not be returning to Lotte in 2018

The Chiba Lotte Marines announced today that they were not going to sign twenty-eight-year-old Matt Duffy, twenty-nine-year-old Jimmy Paredes, and thirty-year-old Roel Santos to contracts for the 2018 season.

According to Daily Sports, Paredes signed with the Doosan Bears. He agreed to a contract worth 700,000 US dollars with a signing bonus of 100,000 US dollars.

The Chiba Lotte Marines are planning to install Trackman systems at ZOZO Marine and Lotte Urawa. They are the last team in the Pacific League to add Trackmans to their facilities.

The Chunichi Dragons are testing the Rapsodo system during fall camp. The Dragons are still considering the Trackman system.

The Chiba Lotte Marines announced today that Daiki Iwashita had surgery to treat a lumbar herniated disc. He will be able to move around in about a month and resume throwing practices in around two months.

[11/11/2017] Shu Hara has elbow surgery

The Chiba Lotte Marines announced on November 11 that Shu Hara had right shoulder surgery and elbow nerve transfer surgery at a hospital in Yokohama on November 10. There were no complications during the procedure. He will be hospitalized for about two weeks. It will most likely be six months until he can begin playing catch and a total nine months for a full recovery.
