The Chiba Lotte Marines announced on August 18 that they will once again play the CPBL Lamigo Monkeys during spring camp next year. The Asia Gateway Power Series 2019 in Ishigakijima will take place on February 9 (Saturday) and 10 (Sunday) at Ishigaki Chuo Sports Park Baseball Stadium.

August 18 vs Rakuten at Rakuten Seimei Park – Nakamura was hit twice during the game and set a new Marines record with twenty hit-by-pitches this season. He started the day tied with the eighteen Daichi Suzuki recorded in 2017. His twenty HBPs is good for a seventh place tie (Greg LaRocca, 2006) in NPB history.

Mike Bolsinger gave up two runs on four hits during the first inning of Saturday’s game against the Rakuten Eagles. He threw warm-ups before the start of the second inning, but was replaced by a reliever. The media later learned that the Chiba Lotte Marines pulled Bolsinger because he was having problems with the ring and pinky fingers on his right hand. He is considered day-to-day.

Bolsinger was examined at a hospital in Chiba on August 20. The Marines took him off the active roster today, even though tests did not reveal any abnormalities. They are concerned about fatigue and will skip him at least once in the rotation.0 Comments
The Chiba Lotte Marines announced on August 18 that twenty-nine-year-old Masaki Minami had surgery to treat the ossification of the yellow ligament at a hospital in was examined at a hospital in Narashino, Chiba on August 17. He might require about six months for a full recovery.
Minami pitched in thirty-five games this season and was 2-2 with six holds. He was taken off the active roster on July 21 with numbness in his legs.
The Marines released the following statement from Minami:
I will soon start what I imagine will be a very difficult rehab program, but I will do my best so that I can pitch off the mound at ZOZO Marine once more. Please continue to root for me.
Ayumu Ishikawa had trouble throwing at full strength during his start against Softbank on July 24 (two runs, two innings). He continued to have problems during his next start against Nippon Ham on July 31 (ten runs, 0.2 innings). The Chiba Lotte Marines were concerned about fatigue and decided to skip him once in the rotation. The media recently learned that Ishikawa’s return will be delayed because he sprained his right ankle while running at Lotte Urawa Stadium on August 4. The Marines will send twenty-nine-year-old pitcher Takahiro Fujioka to the Fighters for twenty-seven-year-old outfielder Hiromi Oka.
