[1/13/2019] Chiba Lotte Marines reach agreement with Brandon Mann

The Chiba Lotte Marines are looking to add thirty-four-year-old Brandon Mann to their pitching staff. An announcement of his addition could be made shortly. Lotte has been looking for additional left-handed candidates for the starting rotation.

Mann played for the Yokohama Bay Stars in 2011 and 2012. He returned to the United States for a minor league contract with Washington, but later signed with the BC League’s Shinano Grandserows and went 1-9 with a 4.73 ERA (1.51 WHIP) in thirty appearances. He then bounced around a couple of organizations (Pittsburgh, Oakland, Texas, also with some time in the American Association) and was once suspended for eighty games after testing positive for Ostarine (a banned substance that was an ingredient in a supplement he purchased). Mann made his MLB debut with Texas in 2018 and pitched in seven games while recording a 4.27 ERA (1.32 WHIP) over 8.1 innings of work.
