Alfredo Despaigne was examined at a hospital in Fukuoka and diagnosed with mild inflammation in his right knee. He was taken off the active roster on August 17. He will be eligible to return on August 27.0 Comments
Seiichi Uchikawa was taken off the active roster today because of fatigue. This was the second time the Softbank Hawks took Uchikawa off the active roster this year. Kimiyasu Kudo told reporters he wanted to give the veteran some time to recover.

Uchikawa started playing in rehab games at Ni-gun on September 15 (he went 0-for-10 in four games), but rejoined the rehab group on September 22 with a right shoulder injury and spent most of his time getting treatment on September 23. Uchikawa had been having problems with his shoulder, but things recently got worse.
