The Hawks held a press conference for Miranda at YafuOku Dome on July 17. He was assigned the uniform number 19. According to media reports, Miranda agreed to a one-year deal (good for the rest of the current season) worth an estimated forty million yen.

Higashihama was examined at a hospital in Fukuoka today and diagnosed with right shoulder dysfunction. There was no inflammation or muscle damage. Higashihama was having problems with the shoulder since earlier in the season. It finally got to a point where he started having difficulty moving his arm. The Softbank Hawks are uncertain how much time Higashihama will need for a full recovery.

He was examined at a hospital in Fukuoka on May 25 and diagnosed with a proximal phalanx fracture in his left ring finger. He will most likely need about two months for a full recovery.
