[7/21/2016] Yakult Swallows to part ways with Logan Ondrusek

The Yakult Swallows announced today that they received and accepted Logan Ondrusek’s request to be released. The organization has filed paperwork to place Ondrusek on waivers.

[7/15/2016] Logan Ondrusek to temporarily return to United States

The Yakult Swallows announced that Logan Ondrusek will return to the United States with his family after he received about a week of paid leave. His departure and return date have not yet been set.

Team official Tsuyoshi Kinugasa told reporters Ondrusek has a clause in his contract that grants him one week of paid leave. He also hinted there was a possibility he might not return.

[7/2/2016] Logan Ondrusek’s suspension not fully lifted yet

Logan Ondrusek is not fully out of the woods just yet. Senior Director Junji Ogawa told reporters on July 1 that there were still a couple of hurdles the pitcher had to clear (he has not yet apologized to Team President Tsuyoshi Kinugasa and Manager Mitsuru Manaka). As such, the organization still considers Ondrusek suspended — he has practice privileges, but not playing privileges. There is also a chance he could still be issued a fine.

[6/29/2016] Logan Ondrusek to resume practices on June 30

Logan Ondrusek met with Yakult Swallows’ officials, including Senior Director Junji Ogawa, earlier today and apologized for his actions. The Swallows in turn lifted their suspension. He will be able to resume practices at the Ni-gun facilities on June 30.

Ondrusek was taken off the active roster on June 27 and suspended because he had an outburst in the dugout after an outing against Chunichi on June 26.

Ondrusek still needs to meet with the Ichi-gun manager and coaches. He is not expected to travel out to them during the team’s current road trip and will most likely wait for their return. He participated in Ni-gun practices at the Toda facilities in Saitama today. He told reporters he was sorry for his actions and wanted to regain everyone’s trust by practicing hard.

[6/27/2016] Logan Ondrusek suspended after outburst in dugout

The Yakult Swallows took Logan Ondrusek off the active roster today because an outburst he had after his outing against the Chunichi Dragons at Jingu Stadium on June 26. He was also suspended indefinitely.

Mitsuru Manaka spoke to reporters today and said that this was not an isolated case and that they are internally discussing what to do next.

What happened during Ondrusek’s outing: with the bases loaded and one out, Wataru Hiyane misplayed a hit to left that allowed the Dragons to score three runs and tie the game at four.
