Thirty-two-year-old Takahiro Imanami was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease last year. He has found it difficult to keep up with other players since then and has decided to retire.
Imanami started his career with the Nippon Ham Fighters in 2007. He was later traded to the Yakult Swallows partway through the 2014 season.0 Comments
Takahiro Imanami has had problems with his right knee. It started bothering him to the point where it was affecting his performance and causing pain every time he climbed up and down stairs. He is considering off-season surgery as an option.

Takahiro Imanami (facial cuts) joined team workouts at Jingu Gaien early today. He told reporters he was no longer worried about a concussion and that he okay after moving around. He is still having trouble eating, since he required fourteen stitches to close a cut near the area under the right side of his nose. He suffered the cut when the jolt of his collision with Shingo Kawabata caused his teeth to poke through the skin. Imanami shrugged off the cut and said it was not a big deal because he experienced something similar before.

Takahiro Imanami left tonight’s game after he crashed into Shingo Kawabata while attempting to catch a pop fly near the pitcher’s mound in the second inning against Seibu at Jingu Stadium.
Imanami did not appear to lose consciousness, but was bleeding (near the right cheek) and unable to move. He had to be taken off the field on a stretcher.

The Swallows filed paperwork to take advantage of the new special transaction rule for players that might have concussions. Imanami was taken to a hospital in Tokyo for tests during the game.

Imanami required fourteen stitches near the area under the right side of his nose. He was able to answer questions after the game and told reporters everything went black and he had no idea what happened.
