The Rakuten Eagles and Hiroshima Carp announced that they agreed on a one-for-one trade. Rakuten will send twenty-nine-year-old pitcher Yasunori Kikuchi to Hiroshima for thirty-year-old Yuya Fukui.

Yuya Fukui: Did You Know

Relationships

Fukui filed marriage papers with a thirty-one-year-old woman from Tokyo on November 11, 2017. They started seeing each other in December 2013 and decided to get married this year in May. They are planning to hold a wedding ceremony in December.

[2/25/2017] Yuya Fukui has tightness in his back

Yuya Fukui did not travel with the team for today’s Chunichi game. He wanted to get in some extra work and felt tightness in his back while tossing a bullpen session. The Hiroshima Carp will monitor him over the next two to three days to make sure he is okay.

[9/16/2016] Yuya Fukui gives up a run over five innings in Ni-gun start

Yuya Fukui (neck) pitched in a Ni-gun game against Hanshin earlier today. He gave up a run on four hits over five innings of work. He faced twenty-one hitters, threw seventy-five pitches, walked two, struck out three, and topped out at 146km/h. The one run he allowed came on a two-out walk and double in the fourth inning. This was his first game since he was taken off the active roster with pain in his neck.

[8/31/2016] Yuya Fukui misses start with neck pain

Yuya Fukui was scratched from his start against the Yokohama Bay Stars at Mazda Stadium on August 31 due to pain in his neck. Kazuki Yabuta was named as a last-minute replacement.

Fukui felt discomfort in his neck on August 30. The discomfort turned to pain during a bullpen session on August 31. He was taken to a hospital in Hiroshima during the game. He will be checked out by the team doctor on September 1. The Carp are planning to take him off the active roster.
