Kenta Kurose suffered an injury during an Asia Winter Baseball League game on December 3. He went in to cover first base on a pick off play in the ninth inning and the returning base runner knocked off his mitt. Kurose appeared to grab his left thumb. He was removed from the game after a trainer checked on his status.

Kenta Kurose hurt his right thumb during batting practice. The Softbank Hawks announced today that Kurose was examined at a hospital in Miyazaki and diagnosed with fracture in the thumb (proximal phalanx). He is expected to return to Fukuoka for surgery.

Kurose had surgery on his right thumb at a hospital in Fukuoka on February 27. He will need about three months for a full recovery.
