0 CommentsThe Chiba Lotte Marines and Nippon Ham Fighters agreed on a one-for-one trade on July 26. The Marines will send twenty-nine-year-old pitcher Takahiro Fujioka to the Fighters for twenty-seven-year-old outfielder Hiromi Oka. The Marines were looking for a little more depth in the outfield after Takashi Ogino got hurt (finger fracture) and they liked Oka’s potential. The Fighters wanted to add another left-handed pitcher to their staff.

0 CommentsHiromi Oka was not feeling well during practices on March 23. He visited a hospital in Tokyo for tests and was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis. He will remain with the Ichi-gun team.

Twenty-seven-year-old Oka filed marriage papers with a thirty-year-old woman from Hokkaido on October 11, 2018. They are planning to hold a ceremony in December.

Weight
Oka ended the 2017 season at about eighty kilograms. He pushed his weight up to eighty-nine kilograms during the off-season. He is hoping to make it to ninety before the start of the 2018 season. Source: Sports Hochi 2/15/2018
Oka went on a fast in December and dropped his weight to about seventy-three kilograms (down around ten kilograms). He is now back up to eighty kilograms and is hoping to make it up to eighty-three. Source: Sports Hochi 1/27/2017

0 CommentsHiromi Oka (right hamstring) has been rehabbing at the Kamagaya facilities. He could be ready to play in his first Ni-gun rehab game in early-September. If things go well from their, he might be able to join the active roster before the end of September.
Oka has already resumed playing catch and taking batting practice against pitching machines.

0 CommentsHiromi Oka hurt his right leg when he ran out a double he hit in the first inning of a game against the Chiba Lotte Marines at QVC Marine on August 3. He remained in the game but was replaced by a pinch-hitter in the fifth because the pain was not going away.
Oka was examined at a hospital in Tokyo on August 4 and diagnosed with a strain in his right quadriceps. He will most likely require about three weeks for a full recovery. According to the Fighters’ chief trainer, he originally developed some time tightness in the area back in late-June.

0 CommentsHiromi Oka left tonight’s game against the Chiba Lotte Marines at QVC Marine after he suffered a cut near his right eyebrow.
With no one on and two out in the first inning, Daichi Suzuki hit a pop fly beyond second base. Right fielder Oka and second baseman Kensuke Tanaka went after the ball. Tanaka managed to catch the ball when the two collided.
Oka fell to the ground and was bleeding from a cut near his right eyebrow. Tanaka motioned to the dugout for help. Oka was taken off the field on stretcher and replaced by Yuya Taniguchi.
The Nippon Ham Fighters announced that Oka suffered a cut on the inside portion of his right eyebrow. He will be taken to a hospital for tests.

Oka was examined at a hospital in Chiba. He was diagnosed with a bruise (no bone or brain abnormalities were discovered) and needed five stitches to close the cut on his eyebrow. He is considered day-to-day.

0 CommentsHiromi Oka (right ankle) could return to the active roster in time for the start of Inter-league play. Oka hurt his right foot while running the bases during an exhibition game against Softbank on March 17 and was diagnosed with a varus sprain. He has already started pushing his rehab at a faster pace and could play in a rehab game at Ni-gun some time this week (beginning with DH or pinch-hit appearances).
