The Yakult Swallows announced on February 17 that Shoitsu Omatsu passed his tryout. They are planning to sign him to a contract. He will continue his training at Ni-gun camp in the meantime.

The Swallows announced today that they reached an agreement with Omatsu. He was assigned the uniform number 66. According to media reports, the two sides agreed to a contract worth an estimated eight million yen.

The media learned on January 10 that the Yakult Swallows are planning to give thirty-four-year-old Shoitsu Omatsu a tryout during Ni-gun spring camp. The former Lotte Marine ruptured his right Achilles tendon during a Ni-gun game in May last year and was unable to play in any Ichi-gun games. Omatsu was offered a coaching job by Lotte, but he turned it down because he was not ready retire.

Shoitsu Omatsu ruptured his right Achilles tendon while running the bases during a Ni-gun game against Rakuten on May 29. The Chiba Lotte Marines announced that he had surgery to repair the tendon at a hospital in Tokyo on May 30. He will be discharged in about a week and will require about six months for a full recovery.0 Comments
