Wataru Karashima was working his way back from left shoulder inflammation when he also developed pain in his side. He pitched in a Ni-gun rehab game on June 11 against Yakult at Tendo. It was his first game since April 12.
Karashima entered the game in the fifth inning and gave up two runs on three hits over two innings of work. He struggled with his control and later told reporters it was due to a lack of throwing.
