Alex Guerrero was taken off the active roster on September 28. He may have injured his left side during a game against the Yomiuri Giants on September 27.

[9/9/2017] Alex Guerrero leaves after getting hit by pitch

Alex Guerrero was hit by a pitch during today’s game against the Hiroshima Carp at Nagoya Dome.

Guerrero stepped up to bat with a runner on first and two out in the fourth inning. Akitake Okada threw a pitch that hit Guerrero on the right shoulder as he swung and missed. He left the field for treatment, but did not return.

Yusuke Matsui entered the game as a pinch-hitter for Guerrero and grounded back to the pitcher for final out of the inning.

Guerrero was left out of the starting line-up against Hiroshima on Sunday (September 10). He told reporters he was still in pain and that there was no chance he was going to play.

Guerrero participated in practices at Nagoya Dome today. He told reporters he still felt some pain when swinging the bat and throwing the ball. He said his status moving forward would depend on how he felt tomorrow morning.

[8/2/2017] Alex Guerrero still having problems with hand

Alex Guerrero was hit by a pitch on his right hand during a game against the Yakult Swallows on July 26 and ended up missing three games. He returned to the line-up on July 30, but his hand was still not fully healed. He was removed on defense in the sixth inning against the Yokohama Bay Stars at Yokohama Stadium on July 2 as a precaution.

[7/27/2017] Alex Guerrero sits out game with swelling in right hand

Alex Guerrero did not play in tonight’s game against the Yakult Swallows at Jingu Stadium because of some swelling in his right hand. Guerrero was hit by a pitch on his right hand during his at bat in the fifth inning of a game on July 26. He was later taken to a hospital and diagnosed with a bruise (no broken bones). He is considered day-to-day.

Guerrero did not take pre-game batting practice. He did play catch and take fielding practice in the outfield.

[6/28/2017] Alex Guerrero’s shoulder not quite 100 percent

Alex Guerrero was hit by a pitch on his right shoulder with the bases loaded and two out during the eighth inning of a game against the Hanshin Tigers on June 27. He was replaced by a pinch-runner.

Guerrero played catch and took some batting practice during pre-game practices on June 28. He did not participate in fielding practice. He told reporters he was able to swing the bat without any pain, but had some difficulty throwing the ball. He still made the starting line-up in left and batted clean-up.

[4/29/2017] Alex Guerrero a little banged up

Alex Guerrero is a little banged up after fouling a couple of balls off his legs the last two days.

During a game against Hanshin on April 28, he fouled a pitch off his left (or right?) hamstring in the second inning and was replaced on defense in the third inning. He was left out of the starting line-up on April 29, but later made it into the game as a pinch-hitter. He struck out swinging, but not before fouling a pitch off the area near his left ankle.

[4/13/2017] Alex Guerrero gets hit in the head during fielding practice

Alex Guerrero was scheduled to get the start at first base tonight against the Yakult Swallows, but was pulled from the line-up after a batted ball took an awkward hop and hit him on the right side of the head during pre-game fielding practices. He was not taken to the hospital and was treated with ice.
